The NYSUNY2020 initiative is a research, education, and economic development initiative that will create and retain over 2,500 jobs, advance innovative research and technologies, and generate over $1.8 billion in economic impact in the region. At the heart of this initiative is the construction of a new $120 million Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurship Complex (ETEC) at SUNY Albany that will provide business and industry a “front‐door” to four co‐located, global‐leading research clusters: Climate and Environmental Science, Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology, Forensic Science and Cyber Security, and Advanced Data Analytics.
TCT provided a conceptual estimate, schematic design estimate, design manual estimate, and construction documents estimate for the 218,500 GSF science/research facility, including utilities relocation, potential connection to existing building(s), and associated sitework. Included within the building’s design are 84,500 SF of research and instructional space, including offices, for atmospheric, biology, technology-intensive climate and weather research labs; 9,000 SF of administrative, technology transfer, and research support offices and functions; 10,000 SF of support spaces, such as classrooms and lounges; and 25,000 square feet of space dedicated to industry partners for future fit-up.
