The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) entered into a Public-Private Partnership (P3) Lease and Concession Agreement with AREAS USA for the redevelopment of two travel plazas along the I-95 corridor in Maryland. AREAS USA was responsible for design and construction of LEED Silver facilities at the Maryland House and the Chesapeake House. TCT provided cost estimating services through each phase of the design process, which included revising the CM’s cost estimates during SD, DD, CD and GMP, and also provided independent construction cost estimates and value engineering solutions during each design phase.
The scope of work for the 28,500 GSF, $20.4M Chesapeake House and the 38,700 GSF, $25M Maryland House travel plazas included the construction of two new facilities and sitework with parking, pedestrian walkways, site development, sewer and drainage, lighting and landscaping.
